Technology shares are down in late trading amid concerns over personal computer sales.
The Dow Jones U.S. Technology Index is down 0.87, or 0.16%, to 534.48.
In late-session technology updates, research firm Gartner cut its forecast for personal computer sales in the second half of this year, Reuters reported. The move indicates that the return of technology spending may not be as strong as expected this year, the report said.
Worldwide PC shipments are projected to grow by just over 15% for July through December, the report said. That's lower than the earlier forecast, the report said.
The report is bad news for chipmaker Intel (INTC) and software-maker Microsoft (MSFT), both of which are down. Dell (DELL) shares are down 2.83%. Hewlett-Packard shares are down 0.75%.
Meanwhile, eyes are on Apple Inc. (AAPL), which could unveil a revamped iTunes site and an improved iPod to move deeper into consumers living rooms, reported Bloomberg. Another possibility is a new TV set-top box that plays video, according to the report.
The announcement would come at a San Francisco event tomorrow, the report said.
Apple shares are down $0.12, or 0.05%, to $242.38.
